The top travel tip I'd give is to become part of the culture of a country and not just see the sights you read about in tourist guide books. You should travel around small villages to really get a feel for it great in places like Germany, Italy and Brazil where the smallest unknown towns can bring you the most satisfaction. Also, making friends with locals is a good idea as they can show you beautiful places that you might not find in a guide!
