I’m extremely happy with this backpack. I was specifically looking for a travel backpack that combines as many real anti-theft features as possible, and the Pacsafe EXP35 is probably the only backpack I found that truly met my requirements.
What I really like is that Pacsafe combines so many of its best security features in one backpack: reinforced straps with embedded security cables, secure attachment points, locking options for the zippers, and multiple ways to make unauthorized access much more difficult. Everything feels very well thought out, and the overall ergonomics of the backpack are excellent as well.
I looked at backpacks from The North Face, Cotopaxi, Thule, and several other brands. Many of them are great backpacks in terms of comfort or organization, but when it comes to real-world theft protection, they simply did not offer what I was looking for. Pacsafe did.
There is only one small improvement I would suggest. The zipper pulls that fit into each other can sometimes come apart while carrying the backpack, especially when the bag is being moved, lifted, lowered, or tilted. It would be great if Pacsafe could add a small magnetic mechanism there, so the zipper pulls would snap together and stay securely aligned until you intentionally separate them.
Other than that, I am completely satisfied. I’m Ukrainian, so I probably take personal security and protecting my belongings a little more seriously than average, and Pacsafe really gives me the kind of…

The bag is a good size. I can fit all the things I need for work and for weekend trips. Ten thumbs up. 💯
I originally ordered the slate bag, but this was out of stock, and I was offered a black bag with a free return if it didn't suit me. It was just about big enough for my 5-day trip. Plenty of pockets. I used packing cubes for clothes in the main compartment, a toilet bag in the bottom pocket and phone /charging leads, spare battery, etc. in the top pocket. Only worked for me because I didn’t take spare shoes, but it would have been fine for a shorter trip. The locking zips took a couple of minutes to work out, but are OK once you get the hang of them. The only improvement I could think of is having somewhere to tuck the straps into, like on the 45 litre bag as these just hang in mid air when you are using the other handles.
I have been using Pacsafe for a while now, I got multiple products from Pacsafe and I have to say this backpack is my less favourite. for a 400$ plus CAN backpack I was expecting better thought put in and expected it to be tested. Everytime I make a step, I make a bunch of noise / zippers hitting each others, making a lot of noise. I would recommend that all backpack that were the zippers are to lock between each other like this type of backpack has a type of plastic or rubber place around the zipper to stop making so much noise.
