Pacsafe Turtle Fund:

This Is What You Made Possible

Every June is Pacsafe Ocean Month, our annual celebration of the ocean that connects us all. With World Ocean Day and World Sea Turtle Day falling within the month, it’s a natural moment to reflect on what it means to protect it.

To celebrate, we’re building on our ongoing commitment of giving 1% of online sales to the Pacsafe Turtle Fund by increasing our contribution to 2% this June, helping protect sea turtles around the world.

New to the Pacsafe Turtle Fund?
It's our promise to protect sea turtles with every Pacsafe bag you carry. Launched in 2014, this fund provides annual grants to conservation projects across the globe, from research to protecting turtle nests to rescuing and rehabilitating injured sea turtles.

  3. Rehabilitation

  4. Release

See what your support actually looks like.

This is the story of what happens when support turns into action.

Emmy Award-winning cinematographer Ben Hicks has been a Pacsafe ambassador for over two decades. He's filmed in some of the most remote places on Earth, always trusting Pacsafe to protect his gear. This time, he's turning his lens on something closer to home: the sea turtle you helped save.

Below, Ben takes you inside Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC). You'll meet Bunny, a sea turtle whose journey from rescue to release shows exactly why your support matters, every single day of the year.

With help from people like you, including through the Pacsafe Turtle Fund, rescue teams are ready, rehabilitation is possible, and recovery becomes real.

You helped make Bunny's story possible.

The Rescue

Because support exists, help arrives.

Bunny, a green sea turtle, was found debilitated at Dania Beach Pier near Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

When a turtle is reported, trained responders, volunteers, or staff act quickly. Depending on the situation, they may retrieve turtles directly from the shore, from piers, or even by kayak to ensure they can be brought in safely for treatment.

Bunny, the sea turtle of this story, was rescued after ingesting a fishing hook and line. Cases like this require quick action from trained responders and volunteers to safely retrieve the turtle and bring it to Loggerhead Marinelife Center for treatment.

REHABILITATION

Rescue is only the beginning.

Rehabilitation is where real recovery happens, sometimes over weeks or months. Bunny's rescue was urgent, but that was just the first step. In this video, Dr. Heather Barron walks Ben through Bunny's treatment plan.

The fishing hook lodged in Bunny's digestive tract required surgery to remove it. Over time, her condition improved through consistent care, including treatment, observation, and follow‑up checks to ensure proper healing.

For Bunny, this moment marks the end of her recovery. After ingesting a fishing hook and line, requiring medical care and rehabilitation, she is now healthy enough to return home.

The release

The moment it all becomes worth it.

After weeks of care, Bunny is finally ready to go home. In this video, Ben travels to Boca Raton with LMC expert Marika Weber for the moment every rescue works toward: release.

Not every turtle makes it to this stage. Many injuries are severe and recovery can be uncertain, especially in cases involving fishing hooks, entanglement, or ingestion of debris. Even once rescued, successful rehabilitation depends on time, expertise, and sustained care. From treatment and monitoring to transportation back to the ocean, every step requires significant resources and coordination.

You Made This Possible

Bunny is swimming free again in the ocean today because support was already there when she needed it. Because people like you chose to care.

This June, we've doubled our contribution from 1% to 2% of every online purchase to the Pacsafe Turtle Fund.

Not because we had to. Because you've already shown us what's possible when a community shows up.

*Disclaimer: During Pacsafe Ocean Month (the month of June), the 2% donation applies to every online purchase from Pacsafe official websites (Pacsafe.com, int.pacsafe.com, pacsafe.hk, pacsafe.eu, and pacsafe.co.uk). For the rest of the year, the Pacsafe Turtle Fund receives 1% of each purchase from these same sites.
