Actually Looks Like.
This is the story of Bunny, a juvenile green sea turtle rescued by the Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC). Pacsafe Ambassador and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Ben Hicks documented her full journey — from rescue to rehabilitation to release.
Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Ben Hicks has been capturing Pacsafe Turtle Fund rescue stories since the program started. Through his lens, we see exactly what your support makes possible — real rescues, real recovery, real releases.
Below, follow Bunny's full journey through rescue, rehabilitation, and release.
Chapter 1
The Rescue
Volunteers rescue Bunny and prepare it for transport to LMC.
The fishing hook that Bunny had ingested.
Bunny, a green sea turtle, was found entangled and in distress after ingesting a fishing hook. Local volunteers quickly contacted LMC, whose rescue team responded immediately to stabilize and transport her to their marine hospital in Juno Beach, Florida.
When a turtle is reported in need, LMC's rescue team springs into action — responding to emergency calls 24 hours a day, 365 days a year along a 9.5-mile stretch of coastline. Every rescue starts with stabilization, examination, and getting the turtle safely to the hospital.
Chapter 2
Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation is where real recovery begins. In Bunny's case, that meant surgery, expert care, and time to heal in LMC's state-of-the-art John D. MacArthur Beach State Park Marine Rescue Center.
Surgery & Recovery
The Pacsafe-supported Loggerhead Marinelife Center's experienced veterinary team performed surgery to remove the ingested fishing hook. After the procedure, the medical team carefully monitored Bunny's recovery — checking the incision, managing pain, and ensuring proper healing.

A Front-Row Seat to Recovery

Chapter 3
The Release
After several weeks, Bunny was finally strong enough for release. The team — joined by Ben — walked her down to the beach at Juno Beach for the moment everyone had been working toward.

Bunny returning to the ocean: a moment made possible through rescue, rehabilitation, and continued support.
For Bunny, this moment marks the end of her recovery — and the beginning of a new chapter. Releasing a rehabilitated turtle is the culmination of expert care, community support, and funding made possible through the Pacsafe Turtle Fund.
Every Pacsafe purchase helps make moments like this possible. The entire cycle of rescue, rehabilitation, and release depends on continued support from customers like you.
