Central is the business district of Hong Kong. Close to the Victoria Harbour, it has served as the centre of trade and financial activities from the earliest days of the British colonial era in 1841.
Hong Kong boasts many piers and ferry terminals, which can be grouped into two categories. The first group provides transportation to mainland China or Macau – HK-Macau Ferry Terminal, SkyPier and China Ferry Terminal. The second group offers routes between Hong Kong Island and outlying islands – Tuen Mun Pier, Central Pier, Wan Chai Ferry Pier and North Point Ferry Pier.
